Help for KLN40CG Automatic Kiln Controller

I have bought a KLN40B kiln which has come with a KLN40CG controller. This controller was originally made by Held of Harrogate, which has now been taken over. I did try and contact them to ask if they have any details, but they didn’t reply, so I am assuming they no longer have this info. I have mentioned before, but Cromartie Kilns have been absolutely brilliant and helpful, they gave me details for a similar auto controller. However, I still couldn’t work this out until I realised this controller does not store programs as such, you need to set this yourself each time.

So, I thought it would be useful to put this information out into the wider world along with details that Cromartie sent…as if anyone else buys a kiln with this controller they will probably also struggle to understand this initially.

Setting the controller

With this controller, you need to press the start button for a while. This will then flash and allow you to change the settings. Press ‘Next’. When you have set each section, press ‘Next’ again to move to the next section. Please note these are guidance settings only, each kiln is different so may need adjusting to match your needs. I have only included the main bisque and glaze settings on here as they are the most useful.

Again, just to stress – this is by no means exhaustive – and the best way to work with your kiln it to use it and make adjustments as you see fit. This is just a start for you as I could find no information online about this particular controller. But hope this helps someone at some point!
